We Own A Bateman!!!!

Just a quick update after our settlement ...

From what I've heard (400 miles away), our settlement went super smoothly and we are beginning the transition into the house!  We only had a few small issues with our Pre-Settlement Inspection, including a gash in our stairway railing (they have ordered us a new one) and missing hardware on the hallway bathroom cabinets (they will install).

Our sod has not been installed, but apparently the final grade is being completed and then the sod will arrive!

Changes since Settlement:

We ordered a Samsung French Door refrigerator which was delivered yesterday.  With all of our moves, this is the 3rd of the exact same refrigerator we have owned ... white, black, and now stainless steel.  But at least, we know that we adore this model!

Since we are not using our front room as a dining space, my husband relocated the hanging light fixture to above the morning room as a light for our kitchen table.

And we installed a ceiling fan into the front room space (which we are currently planning to use as a sitting room).

We also installed ceiling fans into the family room and all of the bedrooms.  The boys and I have 5 more school days remaining!!!!  Our moving company is beginning the pack of the house on Tuesday and we are hoping to be on the road to Ohio by Thursday!  Moving right along ....

Last Progress Report before Settlement ...

June 5, 2015

This was my husband's final visit to the house before our Pre-Settlement Walkthrough. He went out to meet with several flooring companies to complete measurements and estimates for replacing the first floor base flooring with Luxury Vinyl Plank (or as I call it "shmancy laminate").

It seems that the crew is really down to final touches ... (prepare for picture overload)

Driveway and our tiny segments of sidewalk were added this week.  It didn't occur to me that they add the sidewalk as each home is completed.

The final door and window toppers were put up, and our front door was changed out to the permanent one.

Our neighbors' home is progressing really quickly.  We're excited to meet them soon!

Upper kitchen cabinets are back up on the wall and .....

under- cabinet lighting has been installed ... hooray!

More Progress (and some glitches along the way) ...

June 1, 2015 update:

No road worth traveling is ever completely smooth...

So, our originally scheduled settlement date of June 3rd has been pushed back by a week due to some delays and issues.

  1. Our concrete driveway was not poured on time, due to a delay in the approval of the city inspection.  It is being re-graded and this has held up the final grading of the yard, landscaping, and sod installation.
  2. We added in under-cabinet lighting in the kitchen, a Non-Standard Special Request, which was overlooked.  Our project manager was very apologetic about the miss, but in order to completed the installation - they need to remove all of our upper cabinets and some of our backsplash to run the wiring and install the lighting :(
  3. We also requested that no closet shelving be installed in the house.  We wanted to be able to put in our own higher quality shelving, without wall holes to patch and repaint.  Well .... all of the closets had shelves, and they will be taken down and fixed.
Updated Pictures:

Outside of the house is still without its driveway and sidewalk, but we have gained the decorative thingy's above some of our windows and front door (that still needs to be switched to black).  And we got a mailbox :)

Dishwasher has been installed :)

Boo to Closet Shelving - hopefully, we can wave it goodbye soon!

Our poor kitchen is in pieces, but it will be worth it for lighting under the cabinets.

The gorgeous metal railings have been unwrapped!

Carpet has been installed throughout the house (it is the same carpet in both pictures, just looks different due to the lighting).
